The Continental Dollar was the first official national currency of the United States. Introduced in 1776, the Continental Dollar was designed by Benjamin Franklin and incorporated innovative anticounterfeiting technology developed by Franklin himself. Multiple denominations of the Continental Dollar were produced, and it unified the original 13 colonies – now states – under a single financial system.
Our Continental Currency Aurum® series honors this original U.S. currency with direct reproductions of four different denominations and designs. Sold as a set, the Continental Currency Aurum series includes four Aurum bills: half a dollar, one third of a dollar, one sixth of a dollar, and two thirds of a dollar. Each Continental Currency bill contains 100mg of 24-karat gold, with artwork on both the obverse and reverse.

How is my order shipped?
Orders are shipped fully insured and require a signature upon delivery. Packages can take, on average, 1-10 business days for delivery. The tracking number will be provided via email to you upon the date of shipment.
Are Aurum® legal currency?
Some Aurum® are legal tender currency in a specific jurisdiction, while the value of other Aurum® are based on the underlying value of the gold, or their collectibility. All Aurum® bear a legal tender notice, unless the particular product is clearly not a currency.

Can I request a custom design?
Yes. Custom designs are fulfilled by the manufacturer of Aurum®, Valaurum. They produce Aurum® for a variety of purposes including commemorative pieces and legal tender. Custom Aurum® are an ideal way to print licensed artwork. Currently, there is a 500g minimum order on custom designs. You can submit an inquiry on Valaurum.com via this form.
